There were more than 200 open job opportunities mentioning the word ITIL in Dublin on the website indeed.ie when this article was written. This data gives an important indication of why ITIL 4 certification is relevant to the Irish market. It also represents an opportunity for a career change or maybe your next move.
Since February 2019 ITIL has its new version, ITIL 4. The new framework delivers a completely new perspective for IT service management, more connected and integrated with the reality of most enterprises. ITIL 4 builds on all the best things from ITIL and expands IT and service operations into the future.
ITIL version 4 introduces IT Service Management through the lens of a Service Value System (SVS), which provides a holistic end-to-end view of how to successfully contribute to business value, and also how to leverage concepts from models such as Lean IT, Agile, DevOps and Organizational Change Management.
It’s important to address that ITIL is a globally recognized framework which for the last 30 years has continued to provide comprehensive, practical and proven guidance for establishing an IT service management system, encouraging consistency and continual improvement for businesses. In its fourth version provides the companies the tools and knowledge required to address new service management challenges, bringing cloud, Agile, DevOps and digital transformation to the discussion.
ITIL 4 proved to be appealing to the IT service community as well. Since the release of the new version, New Horizons Ireland already ran 2 full ITIL 4 Foundation instructor-led classes with 100% of approval in the exam. According to Alan Deery, CEO New Horizons Ireland the market was expecting this new approach. “Companies and IT service management teams are evolving constantly. These fast-paced environments require professionals able to deal with the modernization and integration with a variety of methodologies”, said Alan.
