35 years of New Horizons

1982

New Horizons was founded in Laguna Hills, California, becoming the first company to offer desktop application training.

1984

With the introduction of evening classes, we enabled people to learn the latest technologies while still being able to work full-time jobs.

1985

In a few short years we expanded to twice our original size and started offering technical training for C++.

1986

We introduced technical training on Windows and on-site training sessions.

1989

We gained further IT training expertise by becoming a Novell Authorization Education Center (NAEC).

1991

Our Santa Ana location expands to 10 classrooms and with that strong momentum, New Horizons prepares to broaden our reach beyond California borders.

1992

The first New Horizons franchise opened in Detroit, Michigan. Our training solutions model was so effective that it led to 28 franchise centers being opened by year’s end.

1993

Our first international franchise opened in Mexico City, Mexico. Along with continued growth in the U.S., this brought our total number of centers to 49.

1994

We continued our international expansion with locations in South America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East becoming the largest network of Microsoft Authorized Technical Education Centers.

1996

With 157 centers, we became the largest independent IT training company in the world.

1997

In just 15 years, we grew to 183 locations worldwide.

1998

We opened our virtual doors with the introduction of Online LIVE® virtual instructor-led training.

1999

We became the IT training industry leader with 100 Microsoft Certified Technical Education centers. We also began offering Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) training.

2000

We were ranked as one of America’s “100 Fastest Growing Companies” by Fortune magazine and one of the “100 Best Small Companies” by Forbes magazine. We ended the year with 251 locations in 45 countries.

2001

Business Week named us to its list of “100 Hot Growth Companies” and we partnered with Ascendant Learning to offer information security training.

2003

We won the Gold Excellence in eLearning Award from Brandon-Hall.com. IDC announced that New Horizons is the world’s largest independent computer training company for second consecutive year.

2004

We partnered with EC-Council to provide Certified Ethical Hacking and Countermeasure Training and added courses and certifications in the healthcare information management field.

2005

We once again revolutionized IT training with the launch of Mentored Learning®. We were named First Virtual Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Learning Solutions.

2006

We were named Microsoft’s Partner of the Year for Technology Innovation for our Mentored Learning® offering and IDC’s largest Independent Computer Training Company for the fifth consecutive year.

2008

We became a Cisco Learning Solutions Partner and won the Cisco Learning Partner of the Year Award for the U.S. and Canada. We were recognized as the Top IT Training Center by Trainingindustry.com.

2009

We were presented the Cisco Worldwide Learning Partner Award for Excellence in Acceleration and were once again recognized as the Top IT Training Center by Trainingindustry.com.

2010

We were awarded the Cisco Worldwide Learning Partner Award for Excellence in Collaboration and the CEB/KnowledgeAdvisors Best Performance Award.

2012

We were selected as a finalist for the Microsoft Learning Competency Marketing Excellence Partner of the Year Award and was named as the Top IT Training Center for the fifth year in a row by TrainingIndustry.com.

2014

We were named a Military Friendly School by Military.com for a second year in a row. We also became an Authorized IBM training provider.

2015

We were named the VMware Global and Americas Training (VATC) Partner of the Year and won the Cisco Acceleration and Transformation Learning Partner of the Year Award.

2016

We were given the CompTIA Outstanding Partnership Award.and was named one of the World’s Top 20 IT Training Companies by TrainingIndustry.com for the ninth consecutive year.

2017

We celebrate our 35th anniversary and continue to upgrade people every day.
